Floral Notes on Mervin and Tina's Invitation Suite

Hi there,
How's your holiday decoration coming along?
Tina contacted me during Christmas season last year to create custom stationery for her wedding to Mervin. I was so eager to start on this because she asked not only for the basics but a full invitation suite! illustrated map, menu, thank you card, place cards, the works!
After getting to know her vision a little, my moodboard looked like this:

Her instructions were to have pink, blush, marsala, and a touch of Navy.
I thought I'd try something new and design dramatic and moody elements, less of the whimsical, bright, and light pieces that have been peppering my social media for years now.

Tina was polite, but I could tell this was not what she wanted. After all, she did say that she really liked the style that I've been showing off on Instagram!
I had to regroup and scrap all my drafts and focus on what I know. When Tina gave her thumbs up on the Save The Date, I was so happy to have gotten it right this time.

After months of painting, tweaking, and minimal digital maneuvers, we finally completed her dream suite.

The menu originally looked like the one on the left, but after a couple of exchanges, we managed to come up with a layout that worked better (right)
I'm especially proud of this illustrated map. I've been studying and practicing, trying to develop my own style on painting landscapes. I even signed up for a workshop on travel/destination painting with Mickey Velarde! My goal is always to simplify what I see and observe some restraint in adding details. What do you think?

I feel warm and fuzzy whenever I look at the entire set! Designing this suite had been a pleasure, and I'm truly grateful for the trust that Tina gave me on this project.
I hope you enjoyed that set. Have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers,
Tine
